Shubert Theatres Renamed with Festive Ceremony

Two Broadway theaters got a makeover on May 9. The Shubert Organization renamed the Royale Theatre and the Plymouth Theatre for two of the organization's leaders: the late Bernard B. Jacobs and current chief Gerald Schoenfeld. Having one's name on the marquee of a theater is one of the biggest honors in the Broadway world. Over 700 guests were invited to the pre-ceremony at the Marriot Marquis and then outside where two neighborly Avenue Q actors took to an outdoor stage with Mr. Jacobs and Mr. Schoenfeld puppets to entertain the crowd gathered at the renaming ceremony.
