At Sardi's, on the afternoon of May 25, the 56-year old Outer Critics Circle gathered to bestow its annual awards recognizing excellence in the New York theater. Honoring productions both on and off-Broadway, the Circle presented a total of 23 awards. A sparkling array of presenters—including Tony winners Harvey Fierstein, Victoria Clark, Norbert Leo Butz, Shuler Hensley and Phyllis Newman—handed out the OCC awards to this year's recipients, led by Outstanding Musical
