Five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman was honored with yet another tribute on October 10. The director/choreographer received the 2005 Elan Award. The award honors choreography by producing new works by selected choreographers. Hal Prince, who directed Show Boat, which Stroman choreographed, presented the award at the Haft Auditorium at the Fashion Institute of Technology. After the ceremony, there was a special performance of the "Simply Irresistible" number from the Tony-winning musical Contact, which Stroman memorably wrote, conceived, directed and choreographed. How nice to see that yellow dress again!
