The Luck of the Irish: Port Authority Opens at Atlantic
Playwright Conor McPherson followed up his recent The Seafarer Tony nomination by opening the his play Port Authority at the Atlantic Theatre Company on May 21 to a packed audience of theatergoers and Atlantic alums. The show, starring The Seafarer's Tony-nominated Jim Norton, future Shrek Brian d'Arcy James and original Spring Awakening veteran and Tony winner John Gallagher Jr. (in his first role since leaving the cast of the hit musical), tells the story of three generations of men who have loved—and lost—in contemporary Ireland. The production closes Atlantic's successful 2007-2008 main stage season and continues McPherson's working relationship with the company, which gave the playwright's Dublin Carol an acclaimed American debut in 2003.
