Under a Shanghai Moon with Charles Busch

Since he's become a Tony-nominated Broadway playwright in the interim, it was fun to see Charles Busch return to his drag roots with Shanghai Moon, which was first produced in the late 1990s at Theatre for a New City. Playing Lady Sylvia Allington, who is visiting the infamous town with her husband in tow, Shanghai Moon offers Busch the opportunity to pay homage to several ladies of the golden age of Hollywood (Next up for Busch is writing a new book for the Boy George musical Taboo produced by Rosie O'Donnell). Co-starring B.D. Wong, the show plays at Drama Dept. until March 9. We caught up with the company at their opening night celebration at Go.
