A Spanish Play Opens, Returning Zoe Caldwell to the Stage

With a cast full of pedigreed thespians, the Classic Stage Company opened its newest production at their off-Broadway home in the East Village, David Ives adaptation of Yasmina Reza's A Spanish Play. Starring Linda Emond, Denis O'Hare, Larry Pine, Katherine Borowitz and the four-time Tony-winning stage legend Zoe Caldwell, Reza's Play—exploring the concept of how life informs art (and vice versa) via a band of stage actors rehearsing something only referred to as "a Spanish play"—took its official Gotham bow on February 1 in a production directed by the film star John Turturro, who Broadway debuted a few seasons ago in Reza's Life (x) 3. Around the corner at the post-show party at Pangea on Second Avenue , we mingled with the show's stars and their famous supporters. Take a look.
