The Story

What Is the Story of Ages of the Moon?
On a porch in the middle of nowhere, two old friends, Byron and Ames, sit drinking bourbon. Longtime buddies who haven’t seen each other in years, the pair have been reunited by a frantic phone call from Byron to Ames—made as his marriage is beginning to fall apart. As the sun sets and a lunar eclipse approaches, drinking and talking slowly lead Byron and Ames to recount their rocky personal history—and the tenuous nature of their current situation.

Associated Press

"“The dialogue is tangy and twangy, particularly as delivered by two fine actors, Stephen Rea and Sean McGinley. Not only is the talk spot on, so are the silences, which pepper the spasms of conversation.”"

Associated Press

Michael Kuchwara

The New York Post

"“Highly entertaining, thanks to generous doses of sly humor and the wonderful performances by both actors.”"

The New York Post

Frank Scheck

The New York Times

"“Those Shepard boys are still tearing down the house…A poignant and honest continuation of themes that have always been present in the work of one of this country’s most important dramatists.”"
