About Archduke

Everything you need to know about the show.

The Story

Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) brings his signature wit and imagination to the New York Premier of Archduke.

Directed by Tony Award® winner Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman's Guide to Murder) and featuring Tony nominees Patrick Page and Kristine Nielsen, as well as Jake Berne, Adrien Rolet and Jason Sanchez, this darkly comic play follows Gavrilo Princip, better known as the assassin of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and his fellow revolutionaries, reimagined not as masterminds but rather a hapless, helpless band of teenagers. With razor-sharp humor, Archduke transforms a pivotal moment in global politics into an absurdly relevant theatrical experience, reminding us that too often world history is written by the least qualified recruits.

New take on history
"Cast was great. Always amazing to see Patrick Page! You will laugh, very humorous. Helps to understand historical reference as my daughter was a little lost."

Dr Strangelove meets the Three Stooges
"Clever, fun and even a little thoughtful -- not a history lesson, but an absurdist view of history. Well acted, but not really sure what the author's point was. "

Just didn’t rock my world
"I went to see it as I’m a big fan of Patrick Page. I didn’t find the play making me laugh very much. It wasn’t what I expected. Good Acting, but the play itself left me unsatisfied. Sorry!"
