Barbara's Blue Kitchen (Off-Broadway) Story

Barbara's Blue Kitchen invites audiences to share a day in the life of Barbara Jean, the warm-hearted proprietor of a down-home diner in Watertown, Tennessee. In this play with music, writer/star Lori Fischer impersonates Barbara and her relatives, boyfriend and regular customers, whose lives unfold over the blue-plate specials served up daily. Fischer is joined onstage by guitarist Scott Wakefield as Dickie Brian Hull, the voice of WATR radio and accompanist for Barbara and friends. The show features 12 original songs with arresting titles such as "I Want My Kidney Back" and "If You Won't Take Care of My Fish, Will You At Least Take Care of My Heart?" It's the final production before the closing of the historic Lamb's Theatre, and Barbara's Blue Kitchenis sure to leave a smile on your face with its sweet-natured portrayal of small-town life.
