The first Broadway revival of the musical Bye Bye Birdie doesn’t start performances until September 10, but the Conrad Birdie Fan Club was already out in full force on August 10. Fans of the tuner and title star Nolan Gerard Funk braved scorching summer heat and lined up outside Birdie’s home, the newly revamped Henry Miller’s Theatre, for a chance to meet the leading man and show creators Lee Adams and Charles Strouse. Greeted by frenzied cheers and a fan club belting “We Love You, Conrad!,” Broadway newcomer and former Nickelodeon star Funk took the Birdie brouhaha in stride. “I’m a little overwhelmed,” he told Broadway.com. “But it’s exciting!” So, want to get a sneak peek at the Birdie yourself?
