Aretha Franklin Celebrates Her Birthday with the Cool Stars of Cat
Patrons of the Broadhurst Theatre are used to major star power onstage. But on March 25, the stars of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof's stellar revival had a little competition—from Aretha Franklin and friends. Trading birthday cake for a little Tennessee Williams, the Queen of Soul herself celebrated her 66th birthday by taking in the show with fellow celebrity audience members Wesley Snipes, Leslie Uggams and Freddie Jackson. Backstage, the VIPs collided as the birthday girl and company mingled and congratulated cast members Terrence Howard, James Earl Jones, Phylicia Rashad and Anika Noni Rose.
