Dagmar, the new band and song cycle from award-winning composer & lyricist Jim Bauer (The Blue Flower, presented at NYMF 2004) gave the third performance of its debut summer to a standing-room-only crowd at The Knitting Factory on August 8th. Performed by six world-class musicians and fronted by vocalists Bauer and the electrifying singer/actor Meghan McGeary (Hannah in last year's NYMF production of The Blue Flower, Dagmar has a surreal story cycling through the mountain-to-valley music arrangements about a guy who can't get out of bed in the morning and a joyful insect goddess who plunges through the ether to rescue him. Following the critical success of The Blue Flower, Bauer continues his exploration of combining music and narrative, this time in the context of music settings and venues.
