Hoodoo Love (Off-Broadway) Tickets

In a tale of love, magic, jealousy and secrets, Toulou escapes from the Mississippi Delta cotton fields in the 1930s to pursue her dream of singing the blues in Memphis. When she meets a rambling blues man, the notorious Ace of Spades, this dream is realized in a way she could never have imagined. Hoodoo Love was first produced as part of the 2006 Cherry Lane Mentor Project, nurtured by MacArthur Grant honoree Lynn Nottage, and received three Audience Development Committee Award nominations, including the August Wilson Playwright Award. Written in vivid language that Nottage says "captures the blues," Hoodoo Love offers a clear-eyed view of African-American life in the Depression-era South by a young playwright on the rise.[IMG:L][IMG:L]
