"An enthralling, emotional knockout and the first must see play of the season. Mothers, take your friends and daughters, and vice versa."

Profound and moving
"I came of age in the 70’s. Liberation spoke to my heart. Women did not have the choices in the past that we have today. But if we are not careful, those choices will be taken away. They already are! Women must stick together to demand equality. I loved this show!"

A Bridge Across the Ages
"A group of six of us, two seniors, friends since elementary school, my grown daughter, and three of her friends, enjoyed this passionate performance together. The mix of emotions it evoked and the lively dinner conversation following were unanticipated and, well, liberating! We all concluded that this generation bridging performance was both inspiring and thought-provoking, albeit for our own reasons. Keep putting your bricks in the wall, people! I challenge you to see LIBERATION. Consider how each generation has more in common with the previous than we realize...but a word of caution: It may not be for the reasons you imagine! There is some nudity, but don't let that deter you. Just go, you'll see what I mean! "

Best play I have seen in a decade
"This creative telling of the struggle for equal rights by our mothers is a must see for all! I do hope a young student-friendly version is produced, because the message is so powerful and told in a disarming, compassionate way with humor, love and a lot of respect for the women who came before us. Laughing. Crying. Sobbing. Reeling.
"Liberation is the beautiful and timeless story of women fighting for the right to exist equally in the world. The tension between what that looks like to the outside world, and what that even looks like amongst themselves is among the primary themes of this hysterical and heart grabbing play. If this doesn’t win a Tony, the committee should quite simply be fired. "

Incredibly Powerful + Nuanced
"I absolutely LOVED this play. It was powerful, raw, and nuanced -- and hit so close to home! Beautiful (albeit complicated) commentary on society and the women's movement at large -- past, present, and future. I cried a lot... and absolutely loved it. It'll make you call your mom. "

The show reminded me of my own involvement in Women's Liberation.
"The actors were wonderful and the content was informative and funny at times. The play brought up many of the issues we grappled with in the 1970s and, like us, solved only a few of them."

Phenomenal play
"What’s a fresh and fantastic new look at humanity and the role of women through time. This is a must see for multi generations… Not just for women, but for the men who love them or are trying to understand them."

A liberating Perspective
"What daughter hasn’t wondered what her mother was like when she was young? What did she care about, dream about? That’s the premise of Liberation. It’s a beautifully written play with actors who really care about the material. I loved it. "

Great show!
"I thought the show was very thoughtful and informative of the roles that women play not only in 1970 but in contemporary culture. The acting was superb and the writing very insightful and funny. Highly recommend attending. Because of the nudity, I don’t think it would be recommended for children."

This is a conventional drama with conventional dialogue
"This play was obvious . Nothing in the dialogue was surprising or revealing about the period that we didn't know already. it was a family drama about women who might be interested in liberation, get married and have children, no radical thinking. "

About Liberation

It's 1970: somewhere in Ohio, six women meet on a basement basketball court, determined to shake up their lives and change the world. Fifty years later, one of their daughters tries to understand where things fell apart. A provocative, wildly theatrical world premiere that poses vital questions about friendship, legacy, and the true meaning of liberation.
