Donna Murphy & Michael Cerveris Open at the Biltmore in LoveMusik
With the May 3 opening of the Kurt Weill-Lotte Lenya bio-musical LoveMusik, the legendary director Hal Prince officially returned to Broadway with the first new musical he's helmed since 1998's Tony Award-winning Parade at Lincoln Center. Starring Donna Murphy and Michael Cerveris, Prince's dark and moody exploration of Weill and Lenya's unorthodox relationship in LoveMusik drew a throng of old school Broadway notables to its opening, including Lauren Bacall, Phyllis Newman and Julie Wilson. After the company took their bows at the Biltmore, we crossed the street with Prince, his glamorous guests and the stars of LoveMusik (which is being produced under the auspices of the Manhattan Theatre Club) to the swanky Supper Club for an opening night toast.
