Wouldn't Claire Danes on Broadway Be Loverly? Roundabout Opens Pygmalion

The Roundabout Theatre Company opened its highly anticipated revival of George Bernard Shaw's classic play Pygmalion at their American Airlines Theatre on West 42nd Street on Thursday, October 17, which heralded the Broadway debut of Shopgirl movie star Claire Danes in the pivotal role of the Cockney flower girl-turned-proper English lady Eliza Doolittle. Co-starring I Am My Own Wife Tony winner Jefferson Mays as Professor Henry Higgins, the production, directed by Journey's End helmer David Grindley, also features stage faves Jay O. Sanders (Stuff Happens) and 3-time Tony Award recipient Boyd Gaines. After the opening night curtain calls, a star-filled reception was held around the corner at the Marriott Marquis Hotel.
