Richard III (Off-Broadway) Story

Michael Cumpsty, who won great acclaim in the title roles of Hamlet and Richard II at Classic Stage Company, returns to the off-Broadway stage to tackle Richard III, the original man you love to hate. Featuring one of Western literature's grandest villains, Richard III has tantalized leading actors and audiences for more than 400 years. Richard III centers [IMG:L]on the malicious, power-hungry Duke of Gloucester, a hunchback who becomes England's king after pledging to kill anyone who stands in his way. No one—including his brothers, his nephews, his political allies or even his wife, Queen Anne—is safe from the wrath of the bitter man who becomes King Richard III. Cumpsty joins Classic Stage Company Artistic Director Brian Kulick in directing a new production of this classic play.
