Blythe Danner & Carla Gugino Open in Suddenly Last Summer
On November 15 the revival of Tennessee Williams' 1958 drama Suddenly Last Summer, which explores the murky psychological battle between the staunch Mrs. Venable and her niece Catharine Holly over the posthumous legacy of Sebastian Venable, opened at the Roundabout's Laura Pels Theatre.
The lavish off-Broadway production stars Tony Award-winner Blythe Danner and the lovely Carla Gugino, who made an exciting splash two seasons ago on Broadway in the revival of Arthur Miller's After the Fall. After the curtain call, we happily joined Suddenly's fans, following the leading ladies and their company (which includes the handsome Queer as Folk star Gale Harold) to the opening night party at the Bryant Park Grill.
