If spelling bees conjure up images of knee socks and braces, you would have been in for a surprise at the October 2 performance of The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee. It was a night that the audience definitely left the kids at home. Why? So the grown-ups could have a little mature fun at the Circle in the Square Theatre. In an unusual move, the feel-good tuner performed a special one-night-only performance that used language that was decidedly not family friendly. Now what about those pandas? Mischievous producers David Stone and Carole Rothman joined in the fun by playing naughty pandas in the show. Their antics delighted the dirty-minded audience to no end.
