An Intimate Affair for What of the Night

Writer Djuna Barnes has been called one of the most secretive and outstanding literary figures of the 20th century. Most known for her 1937 novel Nightwood, Barnes lead a quiet life in seclusion at her Greenwich Village apartment, refusing interviews and media interferences until her death in 1982. MCC Theater's production of What of the Night pays tribute to Barnes, with Tony winner Jane Alexander starring as the writer. We caught up with Alexander and her collaborators, Birgitta Trommler and Noreen Tomassi, at the opening night party at Agave on April 6.
