Ryan Silverman is about to time travel. The Passion star and Godspell alum Hannah Elless will join previously announced star Marc Kudisch in Portland Center Stage's world premiere of Somewhere in Time. Directed by Scott Schwartz, the musical begins performances May 28, with opening night set for June 5. Additional casting is still to be announced.
Based on Richard Matheson's novel and the film adaptation of the same name, Somewhere in Time follows young playwright Richard Collier (Silverman) who has an encounter with a mysterious, old woman on the opening night of his earliest success. Several years later, with his life and career in disarray, Collier seeks quiet and checks in to a hotel from his youth. But his stay at the hotel turns into the journey of a lifetime as he unravels history and time to discover a powerful but perhaps impossible love. Elless will play Elise McKenna, and Kudisch will take on the role of Robinson, Elise's protective and controlling manager.
Silverman is currently starring as Giorgio in the first New York revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Passion. His other credits include The Phantom of the Opera, Cry-Baby, Music in the Air, The Most Happy Fella and Wicked.
Elless made her Broadway debut in the revival of Godspell. She also appeared in The Other Josh Cohen, Mamma Mia!, Baby, Hamlet and The Great American Trailer Park Musical.
