Well done
"The cast was excellent and wonderful to see them perform live. The subject of the play took a while to develop and the depth of the characters wasn’t fully revealed until the end "

Art is Hilarious
"Corden, Harris and Cannavale are perfectly cast for this hilarious tale of friendship and disagreement over art. Their facial expressions, body language and dialogue are thoroughly entertaining and memorable. Their facial expressions plot is current and engaging! A must see!"

Very funny yet deep with thought
"I can't imagine any other actors playing those parts - they were perfection. James Corden should get a Tony simply for his soliloquy! The translation from French was delightful."

Entertaining show
"Loved the cast, excellent performances by all 3 actors. A little slow at times but not so much to derail the overall show."

Highlights with some dry spells
"The show was very good. The three stars were obviously amazing, and they each had some great monologues. James Cordon stole the show in my opinion. I gave it 4 vs 5 stars because in between some amazing dialog there were some dry / slow moments. I wish the pace was a little quicker."

My Art visit
"Loved all three actors. That was my reason for attending. I thought it was humorous but the story in general was weak. No real climax just same topic throughout. "

Discussions dealing with 3 friends for 20+ years
"The acting was outstanding but the storyline was dragged out and monotonous! Also, a silly discussion amongst friends. Very disappointed. Was hoping for comedy…"

James Corden was the star
"I really expected to love this play, but sadly it felt very disappointing. James Corden was fantastic, but characters played by NPH and Bobby Cannavale were fairly unpleasant and boring. Perhaps if there was any explanation as to how/why these three people were friends, I might have been more drawn in. As it was, it was fine but certainly nothing special."

A Near Miss
"No one can dispute the acting was first rate, though I am not sure they captured the play the way the original cast did. The premise of the play is limiting in appealing to a broad audience. It’s is not a play for someone let’s say 35 and younger, and certainly not a 20 something as they cannot relate to a friendship of that long. It was loads of fun to see the actors at the stage door. Simple, star-studded production; few laughs
"Described as “minimalist art, maximalist laughs,” but I barely chuckled on the first night of previews save a few noteworthy highs and one very memorable monologue. The focus on the artwork gets a bit stale after the first 20 minutes, and there is not enough humor to fill the void. Having a celebrity cast certainly helps. "

Didn’t captivate
"I just didn’t think it was engaging or interesting. The acting was fine. I just didn’t care about the storyline. The dialogue was mostly negative with the characters taking turns being upset with the other two characters."

Boring
"Great acting- especially James Cordon but the play itself was a snooze fest. Couldn’t wait for it to end. "

Great cast! Lot's of star power! Didn't like the script.
"The play itself satirically pokes fun at minimalistic art. From the electronic music playing in the theater prior to curtain to the minimal set, the play delivers a crushing indictment to minimalist art. While the premise to deconstruct minimalism through a torturous 90 minute debate among supposed "friends" it was difficult to see the humor in any of it. I chose Art over other options, yet was glad that I did. But I would have rather seen something else. "

About Art

Bobby Cannavale (The Motherf*cker with the HatGlengarry Glen Ross), James Corden (One Man, Two GuvnorsThe History Boys), and Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother, Hedwig and the Angry Inch) return to the stage in the first Broadway revival of the Tony Award®️-winning play ART by Yasmina Reza. Directed by Scott Ellis (Pirates! The Penzance Musical, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), this sleek and sophisticated comedy is coming this fall for a strictly limited engagement.

Three longtime friends. One ridiculously expensive painting. Is it art, or is it just the world’s priciest inside joke? What begins as a polite debate over aesthetics and taste devolves into a clash of egos and resentments. Can their friendship survive, or will one of them finally draw the line? It’s just 100 minutes of minimalist art, maximalist laughs, and a moving look at what we really see and forgive in the people we love.
