Excellent Music and the Voices of the Cast are Fantastic
"The Cast is wonderful and harmonize perfectly together. The story line is quite different that other musicals as the back story is the cold war 79 thru 84.
It is however a complex love story with a wonderful narrator and a surprise ending !"

The most amazing show I have seen
"I was fortunate to see Chess in London in the 80's, Columbus Ohio in the 1990's, twice in London in 2016, and in New York with this production. This, by far, is a priceless production of such a provocative story with beautiful music. The cast is tremendous and exceeded my expectation. Thanks for reviving this wonderful show."

Amazing performances great music
"I saw the original Chess in London in 1987, although the staging for this one was very different, they didn’t need the original gimmicks because of the strength of the cast. I thought the storyline was improved, although I don’t know how I feel about seeing both the original, and now this one discussing the original as a history piece! Music has always been my favorite, but it was a pleasure to see it so well performed well worth the time and money. I plan to see it again."

A fantastic revival of Chess
"Having loved the music, but not the book, of Chess for decades, I attended the revival/reworking last night. I loved it! They addressed some of the book’s issues, added some humor, and had the narrator/arbiter move the story along. All the voices, particularly the three leads were amazing. Each had 1-2 solos in which they shone. Duos and group numbers didn’t disappoint. The audience was wildly enthusiastic. I would highly recommend this production, even if you think you know what to expect based on prior productions."

Chess is my favorite musical
"I saw Chess originally in London, then again many years later in London. I've also seen smaller productions. I lived through the Cold War and remember the huge importance of the top Soviet/US chess players. The younger generations don't have that connection so this production has a lot of dance, big voices, excellent acting and staging to bring that era to life. Every song is memorable and well delivered. The choreography is superb. It is an energetic show for the cast. I hope this production has a long run. I will see it again."

A rare night on Broadway
"This production is spectacular. The leads could not be more impressive. The staging is terrific and the orchestra provided both a contemporary sound while still holding the drama of some of the key numbers. This is one of those rare Broadway experiences that you may talk about for a long time."

Mountain Top Experience
"I’ve listened to the Chess cast recording for years and years - music right up there with Jesus Christ Super Star and Evita. This was my first opportunity to see Chess performed - enthusiastically driving from Michigan to experience it on Broadway. The story was very understandable, engaging, (surprisingly funny at times) and, of course, soaringly epic with emotions. My only regret? That I can’t stay and see it over and over again. Bravo!"

Well sung version of this show!
"I appreciated this reimagining of Chess, keeping most of the original music and changing the book/story somewhat. All the principals sang extremely well, but Christopher Nicholas was a stand out. The broken proscenium bits with the Arbiter were a fun addition. Recommend!"

Such a great show!! Non stop entertainment
"I had never heard of Chess before, but bought tickets anyway. My husband and I absolutely LOVED the show! He's not a big musical fan, but he couldn't get over how great the show was! And I was just blown away by the talent from each and every cast member, not to mention the talents of the musicians right there on stage! Absolutely stunning show, and so fun to watch"

The whole production was excellent!
"The music was wonderful, supported the story line and was sung with emotion pertinent to the story. I don't believe the story was convolulted. It flowed well and perfectly told its message which was then sung beaurifully."

About
Chess
Chess is the iconic musical where power and passion collide, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. It’s America versus Russia at the World Chess Championship, where the espionage and romance are as complicated and exhilarating as the game itself. For the two players and the woman torn between them, everything—personal, professional, and political—is at risk… and nobody’s rules are the same.
