Story
Adapted from the classic Oscar Wilde novel, Dorian Gray is an aspiring young songwriter and social idealist finding his way in the Greenwich Village of the mid-1960s. He is discovered and becomes the reluctant protégé of an unscrupulous English rock 'n' roll promoter, who introduces him to the life, fame and fortune he never sought. But like a drug, this new celebrity begins to take him over and he falls deeper under its spell as his musical career soars.
Dorian's soul falls away and a monstrous persona slowly moves in as the years progress. Only a photograph taken early in his career and secreted away reveals the horror that he has become.
As he enters the new millennium, he is still youthful in appearance, but bereft of friends, moral virtue and true companionship. And finally he realizes that he cannot escape the life he bargained for.
This modern allegory is accompanied by 20 original songs that bare the idealistic passion which Dorian Gray cannot recover. His fate was sealed when he abandoned his youthful dreams, made a deal with the devil and lost his soul.
