"Went to the matinee and the main character was played by Harry De Cruz. Passionate storyteller, he took me thru a time tunnel of memories. His magic act of the playing cards was mesmerizing. The history of the antique store and what it represented to him were heartfelt.

"Copperfield + Neeson = Jamie Allan!
Jamie Allan has a presence on stage that's both powerful and endearing. And though Liam Neeson is Irish and Jamie is British, I liken the two of them for their presence and charm. There's a smooth, sincere, yet powerful energy that each emit. Jamie is powerfully-yet playfully-present.
David Copperfield is known for his big illusions and elaborate stories tying them together.
Jamie does this well, really well. From the opening line to the very close, we are invited into Jamie's childhood as a new magician on the journey to his present "big production on a small stage" event.
AMAZE does what its name promises. Not once or twice, but over and over again. As a no-longer-performing magician, yet still-current member of the Magic Castle in Hollywood, I love to see how other magicians use their powers for good.
And Jamie Allen is good. Really good.
During the show, you'll get everything from old-school to high tech. He's masterful with cards. And a few great illusions on a grand scale make it all the more interesting on a small stage.
A few cautions - I sat toward the front on the right. The stage is set in such a way that I missed some of the things happening stage-left (audience right). There's a painting revealed and some things on a bookshelf that can't be seen from where I sat.
Sit center if you can.
While some kids attended, I think a lot of the story - therefore intrigue - is lost on them.
This isn't about tricks, it's an experience that you get to allow yourself to open to.
Let Jamie Allen take you on his journey. You'll see trick after trick, sure. If you give yourself to his story the way you might enjoy any other play, you'll get the full effect of his goal - to AMAZE.
Bottom line - YES! I recommend Jamie Allen's AMAZE. "

Was like a story (with magic) being told in my living room.

We sat front row and there was still no possible way he could have done the things we saw, from levitation, to disappearance, to card tricks, slight of hand, incredible numerical coincidences and a final trick that will REALLY have you scratching your head, this performance has it all. Best of all is the way Jamie threads all of these illusions into a truly wonderful story about his life growing up. "I admittedly was a bit skeptical, but having read other positive reviews, I went with a couple of front row tickets. To say I was astounded is an understatement! From the 80s theme when you walk in to the story Jamie shares of how magic found him, to the amazing MAGIC itself (for it surely must be more than mere illusion!), I was left in awe. Would highly recommend (and already have to friends and co-workers). I'll note that I was a bit surprised by the number of children in the audience, but they were loving it, too, and Jamie went out of his way to make them feel included in the show. Such a fabulous fun time!"
