A flash from the past--JUST IN TIME--DARIN AT THE COPA
"There are shows that the opening number immediately just grabs you--like "Mama Mia" or "A beautiful Noise. "Just in Time" is one of them. From the first number he does, Groff has you in the palm of his hand. I like that he doesn't try to sound like Darin or impersonate him. He has a great style of his own and I appreciate that. He did a great job on the expected Darin hits, but I can't get "Up a Lazy River" out of my head. I even downloaded the chord structure.
The structural part of the show was excellent--the set up as the Copa, the band on stage (although for a Broadway Show, I was surprised there were no strings, however, I love to watch a "show" drummer and my seats game me an unobstructed view of his work in this show--and it was thrilling to me) the costumes, all added to the enjoyment of the show. The book was very good and revealed some information about Darin that I didn't know.
All in all, Just in Time is a dynamic theatrical experience that I would recommend to anyone who would remember the era of night club entertainers--or as Sinatra used to say, "Saloon Singers". I actually saw Darin at the Copa, and I enjoyed this performance as much as I enjoyed see him in person that night."

Just what I expected
"The Circle on The Square theater is the perfect venue for the show. it has the cabaret tables in the middle, there is no bad seat in the house! The sound system was excellent and not too loud. As for the story line of the late Bobby Darin, there was some revelations that I had not been aware of. My wife & I had never been to New York and a Broadway show. It was a very enjoyable & memorable experience. Would like to come back again. "
