Good but little boring
"Enjoyed acting but maybe should have read a little more about it. Was more serious than expected but little slow. "

It’s missing something
"It just missed something for me. I still can’t put my finger on it but it left me feeling disappointed. "

It was unbalanced
"I was attracted to the play. I love Peter Gallagher, I remember him from Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. I was unprepared for Delia's cancer. It jolted me. I went through treatment for triple negative breast cancer in 2017 and the play hit too close to home."

Great acting, play not so great.
"We thought the acting and staging were great, the main and supporting actors. We’re fans of Julianna and Peter and they did not disappoint. The play turned very maudlin with the later health scenes. We felt that they were too drawn out and detracted, rather than added, from the play. Staging was very creative and effective. Enjoyed the breaking into singing and dancing, that added to our enjoyment,"

Misleading
"I thought the play would be more pleasant but then again I did not read the book. A little tired of plays with sickness both physical and mental and although the patient lived and the performances were good, this audience member wasn't uplifted even though our heroine survived"

OK
"I thought that the hospital scenes were depressing. This would be hard on theater goers who might have a loved one with leukemia."

Not What I expected
"This is quite a bit darker than rom/com it is billed as. There was some humor, but felt despair was also big. Juliana Margulies, Peter Gallagher, and support staff were all very good in their roles."

A romantic comedy derailed by illness
"I was expecting something lighthearted and cheerful. A disclaimer might be in order, warning people who suffered a similar loss of spouse to cancer. Had I known in advance, I would not have picked this show. On a brighter note, the cast was amazing and engaging!"

not a romantic comedy
"Love the Ephron sisters, but was hoping for something more comedic than tragic."

This is not a play - it's an excerpt from a book
"I have to say, the reason for our negative experience is because we literally saw a matinee (on the same day) of "Hills of California" which is one of the Best and Most Magical Productions of a show that We've seen in many years. We were floating on cloud nine after that show. We had tickets to the 8:00pm show of Tenth afterwards and (I know it's still in previews but...) we were very disappointed. It almost felt like it was a rehearsal in pre-pre production. Although there were a few moments that had spark, the overall production didn't work.We almost felt like it would have been more enjoyable to see a book reading from the author instead of this show. On an up note, Mr. Gallagher was delightful and authentic and brought star power to an otherwise lackluster production. Sorry, no one wanted to enjoy it more than us but in the end we were really disappointed. "

Rom com gone critical care
"Very difficult watching Left on Tenth. The first 20 minutes of monologue by Juliana Margolies is unnerving with a frustrating time with Verizon. Been there done that. Don’t need to pay to watch that. Her acting is stilted Eventually enter Peter Gallagher. He remains consistently strong delivering his lines and role. Kudos. It’s only when about 45 minutes of the show are about cancer treatments and survival that Juliana comes to life, while on the brink of death. The rom com loses its fun as the audience certainly relive their own or loved ones battle with horrible cancer experiences. Would never have gone to have to live through this awful journey. Been there done that too. Warnings should be in the promotional materials. "

About Left on Tenth

Left on Tenth is a true story about love, hope, and the wonder of second chances. When she least expects it, Delia Ephron, best-selling novelist and screenwriter of You've Got Mail, makes a surprising connection with a man from her past and falls into her own romantic comedy. As their immediate spark blossoms into a love story that seems to defy all odds, Delia’s life takes an unexpected turn. Left on Tenth tells the messy, beautiful truth about getting older while feeling young, as it celebrates two people with the courage to rewrite their futures and open their hearts again.
