Great music and dancing, lacks diction

"As stated, the music and dancing are fantastic. I first saw this musical when it first opened; that MJ was a better lookalike for Michael, so this actor was a bit of a disappointment. What is difficult is following the dialog at times. They speak so fast and their diction suffers. I don’t recall it being a nuisance in the previous show."

"The adult MJ lead was the best aspect of the show. I didn't like that the musical was built around the Dangerous Tour. There was a lot of redundancy of dialogue about what the Tour would be like. Needed more

"Loved the stage production. Amazing but stage venture seemed too small. Like a beginner off broadway. Differently could have had 2 double fill in dancers. Wasn’t impressed enough. Had the the perfect center Mezz seats. Would have been more interesting to have real life or best of drag queens coming across the stage to hug and kiss MJ. Like Madonna, Liza Just even 5 would have added the extra drama. I thought the main Michael was good but I’ve seen soooooooo many other Vegas types would have been more impressive. Ripping his t shir off was a classic move but wasn’t done. May be because of the equipment he needed under for sound. His moon walk wasn’t great. We have become too exposed to seeing some really great impersonators I’ve become a bit jaded. Dancers customs could have been cooler. So I had high expectations but overall very good. And cheers to the sound/lights casting creators. WOW. AND LOVE HOW LOUD IT WAS. "

Surprisingly disappointed

"Went to the December 16th, 2025 7pm performance of MJ and was very disappointed. As a frequent visiter to many broadway shows, we found this to be a beautiful theater, with a kind and helpful staff. The performers worked hard and the playlist was enjoyable, but the sound was terribly off. Sounded as though the center staging was extremely high versus having a surrounding, enveloping feeling. No 'body' to the listening experience, kinda a low budget sounding. Totally sad experience, considering the music catalog. The whole performance seem more of a local type show, than a Grammy winning broadway show. Maybe it was an off night, hopefully. This wasn't just our personal experience, but the people sitting around us as well. We were all surprisingly disappointed. "

My impression of MJ the Musical

"There was a lot of high energy in the production which held my attention some of the time. But after a while, I found myself losing interest. The story line was not very strong and was somewhat repetitive. Probably, it's because I am a senior citizen, but the music did not really appeal to me either. Overall, I think the production relied too much on over-the-top, high impact stage setting, but in my view, that could not make up for a production that was only fairly satisfactory."

Not great

"I had high hopes for this show as I love MJ. Best in show was MJ mother. The stand in for MJ wasn't great. Actor who played his father flubbed his lines twice. The dancers were ok. The choreography didn't allow for the dancers to complete turns etc. The sound was uneven. This show needs a reboot...very unnecessarily expensive, feel ripped off."
