In an interesting twist, Athol Fugard's 1969 play originally set in South Africa, has been updated with permission from the playwright to take place in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Millie, a feisty landlady of a sleazy boarding house, is celebrating her 50th birthday. She is looking forward to a nice romantic evening at home until she finds out her lover has run off with a younger woman and she's now stuck at home with her three downbeat lodgers. Even if it kills her, she is determined to celebrate and to have her revenge as she persuades her guests to join her for a Pinteresque birthday party none of them will ever forget!
