I am a Vietnam combat veteran. I just loved the performance.
"The actors were so into trying to convey the what a combat soldier faces.
The choice of songs was spot on. It was so powerful and perfect for the time of the war.
I loved the performance so much that I bought two of my closest veterans to the show. They were so moved.
We all had tears in our eyes when statistics of the war was flashed on the screen.
Thanks to the actors for recognizing the veterans in the audience."

60s Rock Music and the Vietnam War
"A look at the Vietnam War through the eyes of soldiers who served and their loved ones at home. And great music. Might be a little rough for some very young children (although I don't think children should be sheltered - mature children could see this.) A great way to learn something about the the Vietnam War for those who missed it or didn't pay attention in history class. Do they still teach the Vietnam War in school?"

It rolls, all right. And rocks, too.
"What did I like? Everything.
What didn’t I like? Nothing.
It is an experience that combines the greatest bravery with some of the greatest music I’ve experienced on a stage, and I’ve seen plenty of stage in my 77 years.
The actors are superb. Their voices are heaven. The musicians make me want to dance in the streets until I collapse. The writing and production are off the charts. "

Great music of the 1960’s & 70’s
"My husband and I loved the music, but the story telling and acting were extremely well done. I’m sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. We bought the tickets on a whim, and so glad we did. Highly recommend, especially for those who love the music from the Vietnam War era."

Superb
"I really liked the reality they brought to the show. They were able to hi light the mood of the country and the reaction of people pro and anti the Vietnam conflict. The cast were able to show the different attitudes of the kids going to war, the anxiety of their parents and the decisions of the politicians. The acting and the music were terrific, really worth seeing. They should make a movie of this show"

We were so lucky to see it on opening night
"This show took us by surprise after we booked it on a whim. Not only was the soundtrack amazing, but the storyline pulled at our heartstrings. From start to finish, this was extremely powerful, educational, and real. The understudy, Ethan Hardy Benson, who played Thomas last minute was FANTASTIC! Go watch this show while you can. Get ready to feel all the feels. "

great show
"the music chosen for the play was great, each character put so much effort to create an identity of their own when singing the lyrics, feeling the emotions and the pain that came with the war in Vietnam, the news reels playing in the background of the stage brought back so many memories."

Throwback to the 60s via a subject not approached in theatre
"The cast pulls the struggles of the Vietnam War together with songs from the 60s and 70s. It brought back memories of men and women enlisting, while others were forced into the war via a notification of draft. I felt the intensity of the impact of the war on the soldiers could be built upon- drug, alcohol, psychological issues. However, facts at the end were helpful. The tribute the cast gave to veterans and current military persons was outstanding. Glad I saw the show! "

Enjoyable
"Show is not for everyone. Must be a Vietnam War interested person. If you come from an era touching the war....you’ll "enjoy" or better yet relate to the history and music. I was young at the end of it...so I can relate to the music, sacrifice, protests, and personal conflicts associated with it. That part of it was good. Unfortunately you can tell it was an "off Broadway" production. "

About
Rolling Thunder
Part rock concert, part documentary, this exhilarating and moving show tells the heartfelt stories of young soldiers caught in the abyss of the Vietnam War and the galvanizing protest movement that sought to end it.
Rolling Thunder brings together legendary songs of the period of the ‘60s and ‘70s, raw and potent storytelling inspired by Vietnam veterans and their families. The draft, combat, civil rights movement, and homecoming are evocatively reawakened in this intimate and epic work. At heart, it’s a deeply moving love story of courage, longing, loss, and hope.
The conflict - the world’s first televised war - gave rise to some of the most blistering and lyrical songs of the 20thcentury. Rolling Thunder showcases more than 20 rock classics, including ‘A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall’, “All Along the Watchtower”, “Born to be Wild”, “People Get Ready”, “The Letter”, “Black Magic Woman”, “Gimme Shelter”, “Help Me Make it Through the Night”, “Eve of Destruction”, “Killing Me Softly with His Song”, “We’ve Gotta Get Out of This Place” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water”.
