The best performance of any Broadway show I have seen in years!
"The entire cast was wonderful and the presentation fantastic with the dancing energy and the use of video throughout. The stars, Nicole Scherzinger and Tom Francis were amazing! Nicole has a huge voice and is a beautiful dancer. I was awed!"

Have seen this with Glenn close , and Betty Buckley. Nicole did Nora proud!
"Nicole was outstanding and the music stands the test of time!! I struggled to imagine her as an aging movie star. It was great to see a young crowd of theater goers"

Beautiful Retelling of a Classic!
"Loved the foggy staging, acting and voices! The score is outstanding as always! Loved the ending but the shooting ending with the bloody Norma was not easily perceived due to the strobing effects. Also the very beginning was a bit odd. Not sure people would understand he’s coming out of a body bag. I also didn’t like the lack of the actual dead chimp. It sets the stage for Norma’s eccentricity so if you miss the lyrical mention, you may be a bit confused. I have seen this show many times in the past as well as the movie so I knew what was happening but we were with friends who at times became confused as to what was happening. Overall I thought it was a masterpiece!"

Fireworks without props
"The staging and production for the show was minimalist, but the impact it made on the audience from an emotional and artistic POV was highly impactful. Can't say enough about the choreography. "

It was amazing.
"This was so much better for me than I anticipated. I was a bit concerned when I read no sets or props - and there weren’t but the ACTING made up for it! The singing dancing all of it was on spot. I have loved this movie for a long time but if you aren’t family with it you may want to view before. The story was very obvious to me but not so much to my brother who was only going from context clues in the production. "

Broadway Show Of The Year!
"Just got back from NYC where I saw 5 great shows, BUT...if you want to be blown away, go see Sunset Blvd. I haven't been to a theatre in years where there were 3 standing ovations during the show. The whole cast is wonderful but Nicole Scherzinger was born to play the part of Norma Desmond. I don't have the words to make you understand. JUST GO SEE IT!!!!"

Strong female lead and good interpretation
"Interesting and modern interpretation of the musical with lots of modern techniques and dynamic additions. Lead female is an extremely talented vocalist and couple of other strong singers amongst the main characters."

A Marvelous Tragedy
"Nicole Scherzinger made me cry, gave me goosebumps, was absolutely stellar in her performance as Norma Desmond. Most of the supporting cast were outstanding singers, including the gal who played Betty, but I thought she was miscast, and that is the only reason I gave it four stars and not five. The singer had an incredible soprano voice — and it may have been a voiceleading issue — but I thought thought the music wasn’t sung properly. The switch between the chest or belting voice to the head voice seemed unnatural or forced. I know of singers that can sing the songs Betty sings without having to switch back and forth, so the wrong voice type was likely cast improperly. Maybe others didn’t notice that sort of thing? It’s minor, and I’m being picky, but I noticed. The fellow who played Max was amazing! So overall, yes, I would recommend it. "

Great show, edgy take on a film noir.
"The cast, especially the leads, were outstanding. The set design and use of cameras and screens was unique, and on point for a show about the film industry of the 1940's. I had seen the movie years ago, so I knew what was going to happen, yet the ending was still shocking and dramatic. The overall effect created a sense of fear and disquiet that comes with people who are not in their right mind. The only point that I felt was slightly weak was the music. I can't say any of it was memorable. However, the performance of the music was excellent."

Fun theater experience
"I came in with no knowledge of the show. I found the camera work used for close ups on the screen and when the actors go outside well done. Loved Nicole, Grace, Tom and David! I would recommend going!"

Surprisingly dark
"Excellent voices. Nice acting. I went because of Nicole Scherzinger and not disappointed for sure but my biggest surprise was David Thaxton (Max). He was soooo good! Funny and frightening and interesting and surprising at the same time. It is very modernized play. No settings! Only the lights and the pure acting. Sometimes I felt a bit lost because of the lack of settings. I missed the costumes and the feeling of glamour. "

A Satire of Hollywood as a Film Noir
"First, to those interested in going it would be most helpful to take 30 minutes on the internet and review Sunset Boulevard's original 1950 Film and the memories of those who worked on it. How they "accidentally" came to use mostly Actors that were 2nd and 3rd options - and ultimately whose own lives were more realistic to the original conceptualization of the Billy Wider script. This satirical look at Hollywood adoring, idolizing and eventually using up and throwing away aged talent (especially for women) is still being remade in modern films such as "Substance" and even the 2012 film "Helter Skelter" are two of many such abstractions over the years. I think the Cast and Director did as much as they could with a sparse minimalistic set - almost entirely composed of black and white clothing, floor and screen - an obvious nostalgic nod to the original 1950 Black and White Film. At times the combined voices of many performers created a garbled din more than a message, but the many wonderful individual songs more than made up for it. Nicole Scherzinger certainly carried the show, she flitted between comedy, drama and diva displaying a true modern Norma Desmond style and personality. As someone who grew up loving loud vocal Rock n Roll anthems, I can attest she has great pipes, superb breath control, and can truly act. I'd suggest this for 20+ years and above, more because of the darkness of the plot, and the need to understand that current beauty fades much like ones cuteness as a kid did and mental health is a fragile casualty of those who hang on to their glory days too long. Hollywood and Broadway on Sunset Boulevard
"The production was stylized and sparse at the St. James Theater. The opening number wasn't the best part of the musical, with the actors lined up in a factory line set up and actors facing the audience, while barely emoting or doing anything really. Felt a bit pretentious and I was looking for the exit sign. But when Nicole Herzinger shows up, you understand why the musical is a hit. She's electric, charismatic, and hits every number with a powerful voice. The cameras on stage and actors' close-ups on screen add a cinematic flavor suited to the production and theme of Sunset Boulevard. By the end, flashes of red, sudden blackouts, and the minimalist set really make you feel the intensity of the characters' experiences as Norma Desmond prepares for her final close-up. Go watch this musical!"

Sunset Blvd is a dark and yet powerful
"Its about messy relationships when not based on truth...lead people down very unexpected paths. Loved the interplay of stage and live digital scenes, great use of tech and loved the close ups. Nicole is absolutely wonderful and boy that voice - amazing! And Tom is great in his role. Enough said - worth the money to see it. "

A dark show with a memorable performance.
"Nicole’s performance was truly outstanding. She defines the role of Norma Desmond - a true diva. The cast is very strong, the singing excellent. I was not happy with the lighting and darkness of the production though it was effective at times."

Talent is off the charts
"Saw the whole West End Olivier award-winning cast and they were spectacular! My word does Nicole have a voice! Not sure how I feel about the reimagined direction however. There are some cool camera and lighting components. But the black box, no set or costume changes, etc. was a bit of a gotcha for me."

About Sunset Boulevard

Haunted by her memories and dreams, movie star Norma Desmond yearns to return to the big screen. A struggling screenwriter who can’t sell his scripts to the Hollywood studios may be her only hope, until their dangerous and captivating relationship leads to disaster. Drenched in champagne and cynicism, Sunset Boulevard focuses the lens on the ambitions and frustrations of its characters and puts their intoxicating need for fame and adoration in stark close-up.
