Do not ban 'The Great Gatsby' from your Broadway show list!
"As an American that suffered through weeks of lessons on the symbolism in F Scot Fitzgerald's, The Great Gatsby, in high school English lit, I was prepared for the darkest moments of this stage adaptation. Too bad this novel is banned in some schools these days. Lessons in avoiding the consequences of obsession, class difference, adultry, and suicide are best learned in the safe, boring, school rooms being drilled with symbolism of ever and all seeing eyes.
What I was not prepared for was, finally understanding Gatsby's deep, emotional obsession for Daisy. Jeremy Jordan is well deserved of the applause and shrieks from the young women in the audience as he takes the stage. His delivery of song, "I did it all for Daisy", took me back 40 years, and I finally understood the spark that set off the series of tragic events in the novel. There was no way my English teacher, in front of the chalk board, could have explained this to our 16 year old selves.
Although you will not leave this show humming any of the tunes, you will leave satisfied with the complete package- costumes, staging, dancing, story telling. The spectacle of the decadent jazz age and callousness of the "upper class".
Chilina Kennedy, as Myrtle, has one of the best numbers in the show. Eva Noblezada, her voice divine, her portrayal of not so innocent, actually quite callous Daisy- spot on. Noah Ricketts, as Nick, he has the most difficult job in the cast and sews the story together- Bravo!
Only regret, wish the style of the music reflected more of the Jazz age. "

Simply entertaining
"While sadly we lost about 30 minutes of the show due to the heavy traffic in NY brought about by the heavy rains at that time, our sadness was quickly replaced with joy and amusement as soon as we watched the performance onstage. The performers were incredible in their acting, singing and dancing. The plot was easy to grasp and over-all the show was just awesome. I watched it with my family and we all loved it! "

Need to see it again!
"The set, costumes and choreo are jaw dropping. There is so much detail that it’s hard to take it all in. Jeremy Jordan is a perfect Gatsby and the rest of the cast are amazing. I really need to see it again to catch all the background that I missed. "

Thrilling!
"The acting, singing, dancing, sets…everything…was amazing! We came to NYC to see Wicked and SIX. We added this matinee last minute because my feet weren’t going to able to handle walking around all day. It turned out to be my favorite show! I am a drama teacher and I can be pretty critical and this show is one of my all time favorites!"

Fabulous visual feast. Fast paced and riveting.
"We could only attend one show in NYC, and this one was a winner. The cast were top draw with well matched voices and characterisation , the set was beautifully constructed and visually exciting, and the costumes were excellent. Professional with a capital ‘P’. You will not be disappointed by this marvellous performance of The Great Gatsby. "

"The voices were incredible, the staging was so opulent - colors, sights, lighting. The costumes were simply dazzling. I enjoyed every minute - and I’m a jaded native New Yorker, and hard to please. "

A timeless show about unattainable dreams
"Very true to the original book while relying maybe a little too heavily on the viewer already knowing the details. Amazing score that showcased all performers’ voices. Impressive dance numbers that make you wish you could dance like that. Beautiful set that seemed to reflect the sleight of hand theme with quick changes behind moving walls. Overall an amazing show that kept you on the edge of your seat."

Delivers everything you want from Broadway!
"The Great Gatsby delivers everything you want from Broadway. Great music, singing, dancing, drama… even the sets and costumes are amazing. Nearly every song is a showstopper and the performances are stellar.
We had the pleasure of seeing Eva in Hadestown a while back. Her talent and confidence has grown. Her portrayal of Daisy is beautiful, complex, subtle and natural. And her voice is better than ever.
I loved Jeremy as Gatsby… settled though a bit tortured, not creepy, less obsessed with Daisy and more in love and committed to her. The chemistry and ease between the leads is natural. And boy can he sing! He has an amazing voice and great control of it. It is as if the songs were written just for him.
It was engaging and entertaining from start to finish. I highly recommend it!
