A black comedy that takes on New York, the entertainment industry, marriage and even Ohio, The Scene centers on three old friends hitting middle age who have their worlds upended by the new hot, young thing. The Scene is a new comedy about an out-of-work New York actor (Shalhoub) — married to a news producer (Heaton) — who has an affair with a fresh-faced Ohioan ingénue (Camp) and finds himself more morally and spiritually lost than he was before. This new play is about the ever-elusive “place-to-be” and takes on the empty narcissism of American pop culture with bitterly funny results.
