Good Show
"The storyline started out very slow; however, about 40 minutes in, the show was engaging and very good."

Now I understand
"I always kept wondering how Wicked fit into the wizard of oz and the movie didn't help. Excellent voices on the leading characters, the group numbers are somewhat gray, still I felt the story is the same no matter the year and no matter the political party in charge. Great for kids because of the acting and visual imagery, even greater for adults who want to read between the lines "

Production was amazing!
"The sets, lights, costumes were stunning! The performance of the talented actors was energetic and powerful! Their voices were unforgettable! The story was not to my taste! The music was not inspiring in itself. While enjoyable at the time , the songs themselves were quite forgettable."

Great show
"This show was truly spectacular, the vocals and storyline were a cut above the rest. The only thing I’d say is it’s really quite long. Parts of act I seem slightly slow but we still enjoyed it ! "

Absolutely Wicked
"Thoroughly enjoyed the music, although some of the talking parts were difficult to understand because of sound quality. Overall very enjoyable and highly entertaining. I’m not sure why I waited so long to see it. "

Family vacation
"Whated to see a Broadway show while in NYC so chose Wicked as the reviews were good. Kids, 18 year old male, and 16 year old female were both surprised to have enjoyed as they did. Nothing negative to say at all. They were not at all impressed I had booked Broadway tickets when they found out we were seeing a show. However after watching Wicked, they would be happy to take in another show, success! "

Very Good but felt rushed!
"We saw the show on July 16th, 2025, and it was a highlight of our New York trip. Galinda was absolutely brilliant — funny, with fantastic singing and acting. However, the overall production felt a bit rushed and underwhelming. The set design and theatrics didn’t quite meet expectations, especially considering the $250+ ticket price. Compared to West End productions like Mary Poppins or Aladdin, this felt less polished. Group scenes also felt sparse, and more ensemble presence would have helped. Still enjoyable, but there’s room for improvement."

Not my favorite, but worth seeing.
"There were some really good parts that gave me chills, and there were some cheesy parts that could be tweeked to make better. Also, there were a couple of scenes that were a bit long and boring that made us nod off a bit. But overall, it was a really good show and I loved Glinda’s character. The actress that played her was amazing and she seemed very comfortable in that role, like it came naturally for her and she didn’t have to try hard. "

Interesting take on a familiar story
"The music and lyrics are by Stephen Schwartz (who also did Pippin) and they are beautiful, especially “Because I knew you, I’ve been changed for good”. The choreography and set are wonderful but the orchestra is soooo loud that, often, you cannot hear and understand the actresses when they speak."

A witching decision
"Although I did enjoy the show, it was probably not one of my favorites. I think that I would be in the minority regarding my opinion. Also, I think that it was a little too drawn out for me. My 10-year-old grandson really enjoyed it, and that was the main reason for our visit. I would have not chosen that play if it were not for him. The acting was good however it was difficult for me to understand Galinda‘s words when she was singing. Additionally, the applause at the end of the show was evident that I was in the minority. "

Fun but no Lloyd Webber
"Fun performance and great staging. The lyrics and music however were not great. Unlike all the great musicals and theatre productions, no song was memorable, it sounded like a load of spoken words put to random music. I enjoyed it, but would not see it again. "

mixed review
"I liked the scenery which was very unique. Loved the lighting for Emerald City. Creative use of the cables over the audience for the chimps to fly. The costumes were excellent. Groups of actors with good singing voices---however words difficult to understand at times due to loud volume and so many voices. I would have lessened the number of songs and dances overall. (yes I know this is a musical) The plot seemed weak to me. It is the only time I have ever wanted to leave during an intermission, but when I thought of the price of the ticket---decided to stay until the end. "

The story lets it down…
"The production is good overall, but the story is…lame. There is so much hype around this show and the movies and honestly, the Rockettes Christmas production is better. Operation Mincemeat, not really kid friendly, is WAY better. Maybe I went in to watching this show with expectations set too high. Unless you are obsessed with the story, I would say go see something else."

Impressive Voices, Yet the Show Fell Flat
"I recently attended Wicked in New York. The cast was clearly very talented, and the vocal performances were impressive. However, for me, the overall experience didn’t quite come together. While the production values were strong, I found it difficult to stay fully engaged, and something about the performance felt like it was missing that extra spark. Unfortunately, my partner didn’t stay through the entire show, which reflects how we both felt. I know Wicked is beloved by many, and I can certainly appreciate the skill and dedication of the actors, but this particular performance just wasn’t the right fit for us."

Doesn't live up to the hype
"I liked the set. But I didn't care for the musical overall. The story was strange and didn't make sense to me. The words were hard to make out, especially the singing. There could have been more drama in the story. The humor was a bit forced and even the actors didn't seem to know what to take seriously and what was funny or sarcastic. I know it is popular but could have been better. Maybe the movie will be."
