And they’re off! The complete 50-person cast, band and crew of the Broadway revival of Hair will travel to Los Angeles to appear on the July 13 episode of The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. The Hair contingent will leave for L.A. after their performance on Sunday, July 12, and will return after taping the Tonight appearance on what would ordinarily be a day off. No Broadway performances of Hair will be cancelled.
Hair has proved a popular TV draw, with a 40th anniversary appearance on Late Night with David Letterman at the Ed Sullivan Theater and a recent concert in Central Park on ABC’s Good Morning America. For The Tonight Show, director Diane Paulus will stage a musical number specifically to use the entire space of O’Brien’s new NBC set in Universal City. No word on which song the cast will sing.
Ghostlight Records' New Broadway Cast Recording of Hair has just debuted at #1 on the Billboard Broadway chart and is currently available in stores and on iTunes.
