Former fashion model Robyn Peterson will star in the autobiographical solo show Catwalk Confidential at the Arts Theatre in London’s West End. Co-written with director Tony Abatemarco, the show will begin previews on September 4 and open on September 9 for a limited run through October 3.
Described as part fairy-tale, part memoir and part romance, Catwalk Confidential tells the story of 16 year-old Robyn, fresh from Miami, who gets caught up in the world of high fashion amidst the boulevards of Paris in the early 1970s. She becomes one of the top models of the period, working with photographers such as Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin and designers Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent and Kenzo, and graces the covers of Vogue, Elle and Marie Claire. Yet in this whirlwind life of glamour, sex and drugs, Robyn discovers there is one thing to fear above all else: age. There is always a younger girl waiting to step into your shoes.
Catwalk Confidential originally premiered at the Sidewalk Theatre in Los Angeles and comes to the West End straight from its UK premiere at the Edinburgh Festival.
The show is designed by Tim Crowdy, with lighting by Alistair Grant and sound by Clement Rawling, and is produced by Barbara Broccoli for Eon Productions and Michael Rose Ltd. Their next project together is the Broadway production of A Steady Rain, a new play starring Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman.
