Irving Berlin’s White Christmas is hitting the road this year. The show, directed by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie, will begin a seven-city tour in Omaha, Nebraska's Orpheum Theatre on November 1, 2009, playing through November 7. Casting will be announced at a later date.
The production will continue on to Cincinnati, Ohio (Nov. 10-22), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Nov. 24-Dec. 6), East Lansing, Michigan (Dec. 9-13), St. Louis, Missouri (Dec. 15-27), Louisville, Kentucky (Dec. 29-Jan. 3, 2010) and Kansas City, Missouri (Jan. 5-10) over the course of the holiday season.
Inspired by the 1954 big screen musical of the same name, White Christmas tells the story of two showbiz buddies putting up a production in a picturesque Vermont inn, finding their perfect mates in the bargain. The musical includes some of the best-loved songs in the Berlin catalogue, including “Count Your Blessings,” “Happy Holiday,” “Sisters,” “Blue Skies” and the famed title song.
White Christmas features a book by David Ives and Paul Blake, choreography by Randy Skinner, set design by Anna Louizos, costumes by Carrie Robbins, lighting design by Ken Billington, sound design by Acme Sound Partners and orchestrations by Larry Blank.
