Broadway favorites Leslie Kritzer (A Catered Affair, Legally Blonde), Barbara Walsh (Company, Falsettos) and Ann Harada (Avenue Q, 9 to 5) are among the cast for the upcoming New York Musical Theater Festival production of Judas & Me, the new musical by the Tony-nominated team of Chad Beguelin and Matthew Sklar (The Wedding Singer). The show, directed by Jeremy Dobrish and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Dan Knechtges, will play the American Theatre of Actors Chernuchin Theater on September 28 and 30 at 8PM, October 2 at 7PM, October 4 at 5PM and 9PM and October 9 at 7PM.
In addition to Kritzer (as the angel Gabriel), Walsh (as Rheba Iscariot) and Harada (as Elke Iscariot), the cast of Judas & Me includes Nick Blaemire (Cry-Baby) as Judas Iscariot, Doug Kreeger (Rooms) as Jesus, Nikki Snelson (Legally Blonde) as Mary Magdalene, Dennis Stowe (Shrek, The Wedding Singer) as Marcus and Jennifer Laura Thompson (Urinetown, Wicked) as the Virgin Mary.
Notes on the new musical comedy state: “It’s tough keeping up with the Joneses when your neighbor’s kid is the Messiah. Consumed by jealousy, Rheba Iscariot pushes her son Judas to be better than Jesus—and we all know how well that turns out.”
The creative team for Judas & Me includes musical direction by Fred Lassen, set design by Susan Barras, costumes by Bobby Pearce, lighting design by Michael Gottlieb and sound design by David Arnold.
