Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds returns to the West End for the first time in 34 years in Debbie Reynolds Alive and Fabulous. Reynolds’ award-winning one-woman show will play at the Apollo Theatre from April 28 through May 9, 2010.
In Debbie Reynolds Alive and Fabulous, Reynolds reminisces about her legendary career, her many husbands and her incredible life of song and dance. The show will features clips from her MGM films, which include Singing in the Rain, The Unsinkable Molly Brown and That’s Entertainment. Says Reynolds, “It’s a variety show. I get to do impressions of Barbra Streisand, Mae West, Katharine Hepburn—even Jimmy Stewart!”
Reynolds began her career as a song and dance performer, appearing alongside Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly in many of MGM’s classic movies. In more recent years, she has appeared as Grace’s mother, Bobbi Adler, on TV’s Will and Grace and has appeared around the world in her famous nightclub act. A collector of movie memorabilia, Reynolds is currently working toward creating a Hollywood museum.
Reynolds’ daughter, Carrie Fisher, is currently starring in her own one-woman show on Broadway, Wishful Drinking.
Debbie Reynolds Alive and Fabulous will feature musical direction from Joey Singer.
