Horton Foote’s epic The Orphans’ Home Cycle —a total of nine plays condensed into three evenings of theater—tells the story of Horace Robedaux, based partly on the life and childhood of Foote’s own father. As Robedaux ages through the decades, the plays tackle such issues as courtship, marriage, the building of families, war and death. Director Michael Wilson and the cast, including star Bill Heck and Foote’s daughter Hallie, reflect on the meaning and relevance of the saga, playing now through March 28 at off-Broadway’s Signature Theatre Company.
