Stage and film star Kristin Scott Thomas has dropped out of the forthcoming Paris production of A Little Night Music due to a foot injury, according to Variety. Italian-born film actress Greta Scacchi (Brideshead Revisited, Emma) will step into the role of Desiree Armfeldt in the English-language staging of the musical at the Theatre du Chatelet. Performances are scheduled for February 15-20, 2010, directed by Lee Blakeley.
The Paris production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s 1973 musical also stars Lambert Wilson as Fredrik Egerman and Leslie Caron as Madame Armfeldt and will feature the Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio France.
A Broadway revival of A Little Night Music starring Catherine Zeta-Jones as Desiree and Angela Lansbury as Madame Armfeldt opened at the Walter Kerr Theatre on December 13.
