Playboy Enterprises—yes, that Playboy—hasteamed with Broadway and Mad Men alum Bryan Batt to create "The Hef," a chair fit for...well, Hugh Hefner himself. A limited-edition loveseat with only 50 pieces available for sale, The Hef commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Playboy Clubs. The collectors' item will retail exclusively through Batt's New Orleans-based fine goods and antique shop, Hazelnut New Orleans. The price? A cool $15,000.
Designed by Batt and manufactured by Brownstone furniture, the fancy fanny-rest was unveiled at the Las Vegas Market trade show in a ceremony featuring Batt and several Playboy Club Bunnies on February 2. In keeping with Hefner's decadent vibe and Batt's own personal aesthetic, the high-class chair is made entirely from luxury materials, including gray mohair upholstery, nail head detailing and rosewood side panels.
"The inspiration for this piece came from a 1960s photograph from the original Playboy mansion in Chicago," the actor/designer said in a statement. "The design of the loveseat speaks to the sensibility of a time when suits and sexy were au courant."
To sweeten the deal, each seat comes signed by Hefner himself.
Batt's numerous Broadway credits include Cats, Starlight Express, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Beauty and the Beast, Sunset Boulevard, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Saturday Night Fever and La Cage Aux Folles.
