It looks like Alec Baldwin, who is busy these days with his Emmy-winning turn as Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock and upcoming gig co-hosting the Oscars on March 7, will have an equally full summer. The actor will star in a production of Peter Shaffer’s Equus in East Hampton, New York, according to The New York Times.
Baldwin, a Tony nominee for A Streetcar Named Desire, most recently appeared on the New York stage in the off-Broadway revival of Entertaining Mr. Sloane. He will take on the role of psychiatrist Martin Dysart (a role that was played by Tony winner Richard Griffiths in the recent Broadway revival, starring Daniel Radcliffe) in the play.
Equus is the provocative story of stable boy and the psychiatrist who tries to unravel the religious and sexual mystery that ensues when the troubled teenager blinds six horses.
The production, directed by Tony-winning scenic designer Tony Walton, will play from June 8 through July 3 at the John Drew Theater at Guild Hall, where Baldwin also serves on the board.
