Broadway vets Heidi Blickenstaff ([title of show], The Little Mermaid) and Judith Blazer (Lovemusik, Titanic, Me and My Girl) have signed on to star in Inner Voices: Solo Musicals, the forthcoming premiere of two one-act solo musicals at 59E59 Theatres. A total of 16 performances will be presented between April 2 and 24, produced by Premieres in association with Primary Stages. Opening night will be April 6, directed by Jonathan Butterell.
Blickenstaff will star in Mosaic, described as a multi-media, real-time half hour in the life (and on the MacBook) of Ruth, a woman blogging at the crossroads of birth, death, love and Diet Coke. The show features a book and lyrics by Cheri Steinkellner and music and lyrics by Georgia Stitt, with musical direction by Steve Marzullo.
Blazer will play the title role in Whida Peru: Resurrection Tangle, which brings us into the chambers of a rare creature as she is forced to evaluate the quality of life, death and what lies in between for her. The musical features a book and lyrics by David Simpatico and music by Josh Schmidt, with musical direction by Andy Boroson and J. Oconer Navarro.
