Theater and film director Sam Mendes has split with his wife of almost seven years, Oscar winner Kate Winslet. The Hollywood pair announced the separation through their lawyer, according to E! Online.
“Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year,” lawyer Keith Schilling said. “The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future join parenting of their children. They ask that the media respect the privacy of the family.”
Mendes and Winslet have a son together, six-year-old Joe. Winslet also has an older daughter through a previous marriage.
