The West End production of Henrik Ibsen’s Ghosts will close early, ending its run at the Duchess Theatre on March 27, 2010. The classic drama, directed by and starring Iain Glen (The Blue Room), was originally set to run through May 15.
Ibsen’s 1881 play is considered one of the scribe’s greatest works. The story follows the undoing of widow Helene Alving and her son, Osvald, as a wave of dark secrets and desires crashes down following the death of her husband.
Glen stars as Pastor Manders in the production. Ghosts, which opened on February 23, also stars Lesley Sharp as Helene, Harry Treadaway as Oswald, Jessica Raine as Regine and Malcolm Storry as Engstrand. The production features designs by Stephen Brimson Lewis, with lighting by Oliver Fenwick, and sound and music by Richard Hammarton.
