T.R. Knight, Justin Long and Alice Eve have signed on to perform in three staged readings of Neil LaBute’s Filthy Talk for Troubled Times: Scenes of Intolerance to benefit MCC Theater’s literary programs. Directed by the playwright, the readings will be held on June 3, 4 and 5 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Additional casting will be announced soon.
Described as a finely fused attack on the degraded rubble we sometimes call American culture, Filthy Talk for Troubled Times consists of LaBute's "unseen shorts" that give the one-two punch to sex, sexism, bigotry and even "Frank f----n’ Sinatra."
LaBute is Playwright-in Residence at MCC, which has produced his plays In a Dark Dark House, Some Girl(s), Fat Pig and the Tony-nominated Reasons to be Pretty. The company will produce his The Break of Noon in the fall, directed by Jo Bonney.
Grey’s Anatomy vet Knight has appeared on Broadway in Tartuffe and Noises Off and recently headlined a Los Angeles production of the musical Parade. Long is a movie and TV regular (Ed, He’s Just Not That Into You) known for his role in the Apple Mac commercials. Eve appeared on Broadway in Rock ‘n’ Roll and will be part of the cast of the upcoming Sex and the City 2.
