Ben Barnes will star in Birdsong, an adaptation of the Sebastian Faulks novel, at the West End's Comedy Theatre beginning September 18. Trevor Nunn will direct the play adapted by Rachel Wagstaff. Additional casting will be announced at at later date.
Barnes is best known for playing the title character in Prince Caspian, the second film in The Chronicles of Narnia series, and its upcoming follow-up Voyage of the Dawn Treader. He has also appeared in Stardust and Easy Virtue. Barnes' stage credits include The History Boys, Sex, Chips & Rock 'n' Roll and Loving Ophelia.
Birdsong tells the story of a young British man who begins an affair with a young woman while visiting France before the first world war. Years later he returns to France as a soldier and seeks his former lover during a tumultous battle.
