Complete casting has been announced for J.B. Priestley's 1938 comedy When We Are Married, which begins performances at London's Garrick Theatre on October 19. Roy Hudd (Oliver), Maureen Lipman (Oklahoma), Rosemary Ash (The Phantom of the Opera), Lynda Baron (The Full Monty), Susie Blake (Boeing Boeing), Michele Dotrice (TV's Some Mothers Do 'Ave ' Em), David Horovitch (Major Barbara), Sam Kelly (Kean) and Simon Rouse (TV's The Bill) will star in the production, directed by Christopher Luscombe.
The play follows three couples in Northern England who were all married on the same day 25 years ago, in the same church and by the same vicar. When they gather to celebrate their anniversaries, disaster strikes as they learn the vicar was never actually licensed, making their unions illegitimate.
Married's ensemble will feature Vincent Brimble, Jodie McNee, Peter Sandys-Clarke and Tom Shaw. The show will feature production design by Simon Higlett, lighting design from Mark Henderson and sound design by Jason Barnes.
