Tony Award winner Frances Ruffelle’s hit Edinburgh solo show Beneath the Dress will hit London’s West End, transferring to the Garrick Theatre for one night only on September 12. The concert show features Ruffelle and a six-piece band performing an array of songs by various composers.
The transfer comes following Frances Ruffelle: Beneath the Dress’s acclaimed, sold-out run in Edinburgh, Scotland. The show is described as an exploration of the actress’ musical influences, including Cole Porter, Duke Ellington and Kurt Weill.
Ruffelle is known for creating the role of Eponine in Les Miserables, which she reprised in a Tony-winning performance when the show transferred to Broadway. Her other stage credits include The Sleeping Prince, Starlight Express, Children of Eden and Chicago. A frequent concert performer, Ruffelle has released four solo albums, with a fifth, Imperfectly Me, to be released on September 13.
